Although this hadith is widely known, it is important to trace its validity based on scientific studies of the hadith, both in terms of sanad and matan. This study aims to examine the status of the hadith in depth using the ‘ilal al-hadith approach, and to link it to the relevance of Islamic teachings regarding sunnah deeds and spiritual development. This study uses a qualitative method through a literature study of classical and contemporary hadith literature. Based on the results of the study, this hadith is categorized as a weak hadith because in its sanad there are several narrators who are considered weak by hadith experts. However, some scholars allow the practice of weak hadith in the context of fadha'il al-a'mal (the virtue of deeds) with certain conditions. The content of this hadith has high motivational value within the framework of tazkiyah an-nafs, namely the purification of the soul, and can be part of an Islamic development strategy in everyday life. Thus, this hadith can still play a role in forming a strong culture of worship among Muslims.
Rachmat Bin Badani Tempo Copyright (c) 2025 Rachmat Bin Badani Tempo https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-03-31 2025-03-31 3 1 1 17 10.36701/jawamiulkalim.v3i1.2117 Metodologi Ibnu Qutaibah dalam Menyikapi Mukhtaliful Ḥadīṡ https://journal.stiba.ac.id/index.php/jawamiulkalim/article/view/2125
This study aims to examine the methodology employed by Ibn Qutaybah in addressing mukhtaliful hadith, referring to hadiths that appear contradictory in their literal meaning. Mukhtaliful hadith is a significant issue in the field of hadith studies, as misinterpretation can lead to confusion in understanding Islamic teachings. Ibn Qutaybah, as a prominent hadith scholar, elaborated on a methodological approach to resolving this issue in his work Ta’wil Mukhtalif al-Hadith. This research outlines the fundamental principles used by Ibn Qutaybah to reconcile seemingly contradictory hadiths, such as the methods of jama‘, naskh, and tarjih. The study concludes that Ibn Qutaybah’s methodology for resolving mukhtaliful hadith involves jama‘ (harmonization), naskh (abrogation), or tarjih (preferential selection). Additionally, this study provides examples of the application of these methodologies in resolving mukhtaliful hadith. Thus, Ibn Qutaybah’s contributions to hadith studies serve as a crucial foundation for the further development of mukhtaliful hadith research.
Irpan Jamaludin Lukmanul Hakim Sudahnan Copyright (c) 2025 Irpan Jamaludin, Lukmanul Hakim Sudahnan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-03-31 2025-03-31 3 1 18 29 10.36701/jawamiulkalim.v3i1.2125 Ahmad Surkati: Pelopor Pembaharuan Kajian Hadis di Indonesia https://journal.stiba.ac.id/index.php/jawamiulkalim/article/view/2126
The article discusses the significant role of Ahmad Surkati as a pioneer in the renewal of hadith studies in Indonesia. It also aims to identify the unique characteristics of Hadith studies in Turkey compared to those in other countries. The focus of this study includes identifying significant events in the history of Islam in Turkey, analyzing the evolution of Hadith studies throughout different historical periods, and examining the distinct features of Hadith scholarship in Turkey compared to other regions, especially the Middle East. Data were collected through an analysis of relevant literature sources, including books, journal articles, academic papers, and theses that discuss the development of Hadith studies in Turkey. The findings reveal that Hadith studies in Turkey have evolved from the Ottoman era to the modern period, characterized by a blend of classical scholarly traditions and Sufism. Despite the influence of modernization and secularization in the 20th century, educational institutions in Turkey have successfully maintained the continuity of Hadith studies, making it distinct from Hadith scholarship in the Middle East. This research contributes by providing new insights into the development of Hadith studies in Turkey, which has been underexplored in Indonesia. Additionally, it enriches the literature on the history and tradition of Hadith scholarship beyond the Middle East and identifies factors that contribute to the unique characteristics of Hadith studies in Turkey.
Nayla Syifa'un Najmi Zahrotal Kamilia Musta'am Samrotul Jannah Samsuri Muhid Muhid Copyright (c) 2025 Nayla Syifa'un Najmi, Zahrotal Kamilia Musta'am, Samrotul Jannah Samsuri, Muhid Muhid https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-03-31 2025-03-31 3 1 44 56 10.36701/jawamiulkalim.v3i1.1860 Dinamika Kajian Sanad Hadis Kaum Orientalis https://journal.stiba.ac.id/index.php/jawamiulkalim/article/view/2153
This research is an effort to read orientalist studies on one of the sources of Islamic law, namely al-Hadith, especially on one of the main instruments that make up hadith, namely sanad. The Orientalist movement views the sanad as an important object of study because by studying it they can design their version of the hadith structure which aims to undermine the authenticity of the hadith itself and its validity as a source of Islamic law. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a historical approach, by searching references to the works of scholars. The results of this research show that orientalists from time to time have given birth to various theories and spread various doubts regarding hadith sanads which fundamentally reject the authenticity of hadiths because they are built on sanads which are all false. This research can be a door to examine more deeply each theory and its influence.
This study explores the biographies of a number of Indonesian hadith scholars who settled in Makkah al-Mukarramah and made notable scholarly contributions there.
