Current Issue

Vol. 6 No. 2 (2025): البصيرة: مجلة الدراسات الإسلامية

The latest issue of al-Bashirah: Journal of Islamic Studies, Volume 6, Issue 2 (October, 2025), presents a collection of scholarly articles that contribute to the ongoing discourse in classical and contemporary Islamic thought. The issue features five original research papers authored by scholars from Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, covering a diverse range of themes in theology, Qur’anic studies, jurisprudence, linguistics, and interreligious dialogue. The issue opens with “The Allegation That Shaykh Muhammad Ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb Opposed Ibn Taymiyyah on Vows: A Critical Study” by Kastriot Mazreku, which refutes misconceptions about Ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb’s stance and affirms his consistency with Ibn Taymiyyah’s theological framework. The second article, “The Mutawātir Readings in Rawā’i‘ al-Bayān in the Exegesis of the Qur’anic Legal Verses by Muḥammad ‘Alī al-Ṣābūnī” by Gampang Dadiyono, Muhammad Galib, and Muhsin Mahfudz, explores the significance of recurrent Qur’anic readings in shaping exegetical and legal interpretations. The third article, “If Usage Does Not Alter the Characteristics of Water, Then It Does Not Affect Its Purifying Quality” by Ousman Mbye, offers a nuanced fiqh analysis of water purity and its implications for ritual law. The fourth contribution, “Linguistic Exercises in Durūs al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah: A Descriptive and Analytical Study” by Ronny Mahmuddin, provides an in-depth evaluation of Arabic pedagogical methods and their linguistic outcomes. Concluding the issue, “The Call for the Rapprochement of Religions and Islam’s Position on It” by Rosmita, Mar’atu Shoaleha Lingga, and Asnawati Patuti, critically examines the concept of interfaith rapprochement from an Islamic doctrinal perspective. Published online in October 2025, this issue features five articles authored or co-authored by scholars from Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, representing universities and Islamic institutions across both countries.
